An IBCLC is an allied healthcare professional certified by the International Board of Lactation Consultant Examiners® (IBLCE®), independently accredited by the National Commission for Certifying Agencies (NCCA) of the Institute for Credentialing Excellence (ICE).
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Most insurance providers are required to cover lactation services under the auspices of the Affordable Care Act. According to the National Women’s Law Center:
“The law requires that all new health plans must provide certain preventive services without any cost-sharing, including coverage for breastfeeding support and supplies.”
That being said, some plans predate the ACA and may not have to comply. I see that different insurance plans interpret the law differently and different levels of coverage from one plan to the next are common. In other words, I cannot guarantee that the services I provide to you will be covered. I recommend contacting your provider directly for written explanation of your coverage benefits. I require payment in full at the time of service and I offer multiple payment options. I will provide you with all necessary documentation required for you to submit a claim for reimbursement from your plan. I also ask for your help with parking and parking-related fees.
I am based in West Roxbury, MA 02132 and comfortably travel within a 30-minute driving radius. Travel beyond this radius, which may depend on the time/day of service, may incur additional travel fees that will not be reimbursable by your insurance. I use a mapping app to estimate my travel time prior to heading to you, we’ll have a conversation about this prior to my coming to your home.
Towns and neighborhoods that are within my service radius include:
Newton, Dedham, Westwood, Jamaica Plain, Roslindale, Hyde Park, Needham, Brookline, Norwood, Walpole, Wellesley, Natick, Framingham, Canton, Waltham and more. If I can’t get to you, I will help refer you to a colleague who can.
I am happy to discuss my fee structure by phone or email. My fee takes into consideration the total time spent per client per visit, including: preparation, travel to and from your home, 2 or more hours at your home, plus time spent charting, reporting and providing follow up by phone. I typically invest 5 hours per client per visit for feeding assessments and pumping consultations. I will give you the time you need to provide you with exceptionally high-quality service.
Payment by cash or check is preferred. If needed, I can accept payment through a Square POS system. Additional service fees may apply. This chip card reader can accept major credit cards plus contactless payments such as Apple Pay and Samsung Pay.
